Why our program works

We know that many children are at a different point in their reading journey. Our program is individualized so that your child receives the instruction and practice that they need. Our Individualized Literacy Plan program is designed to help struggling readers, at a time when they need it the most, in their early elementary years. Early intervention means addressing areas of need early on so that deeper gaps do not form. Our program assesses the individual’s needs and addresses gaps by outlining actionable goals and teaching concepts sequentially and systematically. Each individual plan is steeped in reading research and builds strong reading foundations by providing instruction in phonics, phonological awareness, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency. A foundational part of our program is pairing families with a reading expert trained in reading instruction. This expert guides the family in implementing the child’s 9-week plan. At the end of the program, the child will have grown as a reader and the parent will feel empowered to help their child for years to come.

What our families say

I was starting to despair about how I could help my daughter with her reading. Leigh [literacy specialist] has been a godsend and I feel like my daughter is now making great progress... My daughter is starting to show a keen interest in writing which just shows the plan Leigh has created for us is working.

I recommend Cultivating Literacy to all parents who want to be involved and see their children’s reading skills grow. The activities are well thought through and planned based on the individual child’s needs. They are short and fun.
